Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited Lord Somnath along with his wife at the world-famous Somnath temple on Tuesday. He said that after attaining the supernatural virtue of Darshan, the mind is Shivamaya. It is believed that among the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, the first Jyotirlinga is Lord Somnath, whose mere sight destroys all sins. Shekhawat said that Devadhidev should give Shivatva to all the living beings.
Joined the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam
Union Minister Shekhawat participated in the Interaction with Leaders program under Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam and presented his views on the changes coming from the revolutionary policies of the Central Government. He tried to explain the importance of the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. Shekhawat said that it was a matter of great pleasure to participate in this unique cultural gathering program at Somnath. Realizing the concept of Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat, this event spreads the spirit of unity in diversity.
Earlier, Shekhawat also welcomed cultural-social representatives from Tamil Nadu at Veraval Railway Station. The special guest had come by a special train.

Somnath Temple is located in Saurashtra, Gujarat. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Somnath Temple is known as the first Jyotirlinga among the 12 Jyotirlingas. It is believed that the temple was built by Chandradev himself. It is clearly mentioned in Rigveda. Due to the great splendor of the temple, the temple has been damaged many times in history. Iron man had started the construction of the present building of the temple even before independence. President Dr. Rajendra Prasad dedicated the temple to the nation on December 1955.
